Bayou Cole Slaw

Ingredients:

1 3 pound head of cabbage, shredded
1 green onion, finely chopped
1 red bell pepper, finely chopped
1 large onion, finely chopped
4 stalks of celery, thinly sliced
1 cup water
1 1/4 cups white vinegar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp white pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 bay leaf
Directions:
  1. Mix cabbage, onion, bell pepper, green onion and celery in a large bowl.

  2. Heat oil and bay leaf in a saucepan. Stir in flour being careful to not let it brown.

  3. Add water and sugar while stirring. Allow to thicken.

  4. Add spices and vinegar while continuing to stir. Allow to thicken.

  5. All to cool then pour over shredded cabbage. Toss well.

  6. Place in refrigerator to chill. Serve cold.
