- 4 cups sliced, fresh okra
- 3/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 cups vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- Black Pepper, to taste
Wash sliced okra.
Season okra with salt and pepper.
Mix flour and cornmeal together.
Place oil in a heavy skillet until hot.
Dredge okra through mixture.
Add about half of the okra to the skillet and fry until lightly browned.
Remove from skillet and allow excess oil to drain off by placing on plate lined with paper towels.
Allow oil to heat up again and fry the remaining okra.
